Natu Finau - Winner of the 2007 Eileen Bone Scholarship

Natu Finau, a final year student at Naenae College, is the 2007 winner of the Eileen Bone Scholarship awarded at the Naenae College Senior Closing Ceremony on 15 November 2007. Next year Natu intends to study for a BA degree in Classics and History at Victoria University of Wellington. This year, Natu was head girl at Naenae College and played an active part in many school activities including public speaking. Natu, from the New Zealand Samoan community, grew up in the Naenae area of the Hutt Valley. She has a good academic record at Naenae College. and will be the first of her family to attend university.

The Eileen Bone Award is an annual grant given to a final year student at Naenae College, Hutt City, Wellington, to enable the student to study at Victoria University of Wellington in the following year. The award was established in memory of long standing Humanist Society Wellington member, the late Eileen Bone, a former teacher of English at Naenae College. The Humanist Society of New Zealand in conjunction with the Victoria University Foundation administers the award with funding from the Eileen Bone Trust.
